Potential for removal of section of pylons

The National Grid is looking at potentially removing a section of overhead line between Postlip and Dowdeswell and replacing it with underground cables.

Over the spring and summer, the National Grid is planning a series of stakeholder and community information events and more details of these will be announced shortly via their project website www.nationalgrid.com/cotswoldsvip

The section of National Grid transmission line in question to remove is around 7km long, and runs from the north east of Dixton to the south east of Cheltenham.

The line runs parallel to the Cotswold Way National Trail for much of its length, with many regional trails also crossing the area. As well as Cotswold Way, the existing overhead line can be seen from Belas Knap long barrow, the Winchcombe Trail, and Cleeve Hill Common.
