31 May Spoonley Wood tree felling
In the Spring an ash tree collapsed in the strong winds missing the mosaic housing by a few feet. The landowner has since carried out an inspection and the wood is currently being cleared of diseased ash trees. As the clearance affects the Roman Villa, the work is being inspected by Historic England. The workman inform us they have found the remains of the Roman barn and hopefully the extent of the Roman Villa will be more prominent in the future.
