Winchcombe and the surrounding area of the Cotswolds offer many of the activities to be expected in a rural, outdoor-minded destination. Winchcombe is an ideal base for exploring one of England’s most beautiful landscapes.

For golfers, Cleeve Hill Golf Club is just a five-minute drive from Winchcombe. Set on the highest point in the Cotswolds, the course offers spectacular views and is also accessible by Stagecoach W service. Sudeley Castle is renown for its history, award winning gardens and beautiful setting, is a pleasant stroll from the town centre (1/2 mile). There is Stanway House and Fountain, a fine Jacobean manor house that featured as Lambeth Palace in the BBC’s acclaimed series.

A walk through Winchcombe is a walk through time, a classic Cotswold wool town, with a timeless character typical of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The surrounding area is steeped in history.

If you wish to stroll around the town, there is a a variety of architectural styles to view. A heritage guide is available from shops to explain some of the history. There is also the museum with an information hub.
