Walk 19: Early settlements

£7.00

The walk takes us to places used by Winchcombe’s early settlers. Climbing gently through peaceful woodland before gradually emerging onto the high wolds, where open skies and far-reaching views create a real sense of space and history.

A highlight of the walk is Belas Knap, the impressive Neolithic long barrow that has stood watch over the landscape for more than 5,000 years. From this ancient site, we begin a gentle descent as the scenery unfolds, revealing sweeping views across the Sudeley Valley towards the remains of the Spoonley Wood Roman villa, linking together thousands of years of human history in one journey.   Bring a picnic lunch.
