Important Walking Festival Information

Welcome to the 2025 Winchcombe Walking Festival.
Please read as there is important information about the start of the walks. We hope you find all the information you require below to make your walk enjoyable.

Please note dogs are not allowed on the walks, unless guide dogs.

Registration: Unless otherwise stated the registration is at Abbey Fields Community Centre in Back Lane, Winchcombe. (sat nav GL54 5QH)

Before each walk you will need to register so we know you have arrived.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the advertised start time of the walk.

Organisers and Walk Leaders
If you have any questions or problems during the festival please contact one of the walk leaders. You will be introduced to your walk leader and given a short introduction about the walk.

Arriving by car
The festival is based at Abbey Fields Community Centre in Back Lane, approximately 150 metres from Back Lane car park (£1.50 all day).  There are toilets at the Centre and at the car park (20p). There will be signs directing you to the car park. Please do not park at Abbey Fields Community Centre as space is restricted.

Public Transport
The nearest railway station is Cheltenham Spa, approx. 1.5 miles from Cheltenham town centre. Stagecoach service D operates from the station to the town centre.  Take Stagecoach service W from stop 18b in North Street  by the side of Primark to the Corner Cupboard Inn, Winchcombe.

Turn into Malthouse Lane then turn right into Back Lane.  Abbey Fields Community Centre is about 150 metres from the bus stop. Please note all stops are request stops and you need to indicate that you wish to board or alight.

Reminder before you set off
Gear: Do not forget your boots, waterproofs and walking poles.

Health: It is your responsibility to ensure you are physically fit to take part.

Clothing: Adequate clothing is essential for the weather and the ground conditions likely to be encountered.

Water: Ensure you have plenty of water.

Food: You may wish to bring a snack or lunch where applicable. The walk leaders will inform you of any breaks as part of the introduction before setting off.

Take away food is available from Cafe 21 in Bull Lane, Co-op in Greet Road, Norths bakery and Morrisons in North Street.

Winchcombe has a Post Office at the Co-op in Greet Road.

Cashpoint is available outside the Co-op, Greet Road.

Our control centre will open from 8.30am each day of the festival and on Saturday we will open at 8am specially for the Challenge walk. The control centre will operate during all walks.
