- Through being a “Walkers are Welcome” town we aim to attract more walkers to stay in the town and boost trade. A steering group (comprising of local businesses, Town and Borough Councillors, Tewkesbury Borough Council, Cotswold AONB voluntary wardens, and Ramblers) is working hard to promote the town to show Winchcombe is an ideal venue for walkers/visitors and we will give a warm welcome.
Walking is one of the most popular activities in Britain, creating millions of pounds worth of income for rural businesses. We believe Winchcombe can do more to attract a bigger share of the market, which will benefit local businesses, local people and influence local decisions.
To make this a success we need the support of local businesses. We have received grants from Tewkesbury Borough Council and Winchcombe Town Council and need to attract further funding to support our many initiatives.
On our new dedicated website www.winchcombewelcomeswalkers.com where we will attract home and overseas visitors, we will display all the traders in Winchcombe, accommodation providers, eating places plus places to visit.
If you visit the web site you will see your business displayed. We are asking you to support us for £25 per annum. In return you will benefit from:
- Website - Display your contact details, your web link if applicable and a picture of your business
- Window stickers - Supply you with a "Walkers are Welcome" window sticker to promote your business and show your support for the project
- Cotswold Lion newspaper - Ensure you receive free copies of newspaper published by the Cotswold AONB with articles about the Cotswolds and lists guided walks
- Local Bus timetable - supply you a copy for visitors reference
- Regular email newsletters - details about the scheme and forthcoming plans
I wish to support the "Winchcombe Walkers are Welcome" project.
